This reference text book is therefore devoted to a basic fundamental and yet understandable exposition of the principles of heat and mass transfer. The treatment of the subject is based upon background in physics mathematics and thermodynamics which has- been acquired by average engineering student. Although special effort has been made to provide a physical interpretation of the many quantities and processes rather extensive analytical material is also included. This approach is necessary to give a representative picture and to encourage appreciation for both the experimental and analytical procedures employed. Special attention has been given to the derivation and explanation of numerous dimensionless parameters and theoretical and semi-empirical equations in order to establish the students confidence in them and develop his judgement of their range of applicability and limitations.
