Über die Jahre hat Dave Richards zahlreiche Fachartikel in der Literatur und in orntithologischen Magazinen veröffentlicht und zahlreiche Vogelsafaris in Kenia, Tansania, Uganda, Namibia, Botswana, Madagaskar und Simbabwe durchgeführt. Er ist einer der Partner des Traditionsunternehmens Ker & Downey Safaris.
